About Lauren Burns

Your story is not over.

Hi, I’m Lauren.

I’m a wife, a mom of two boys, and a full-time physical therapist living in San Antonio, Texas. Most days, you’ll find me juggling work, family life, and cheering on my boys at their soccer games.

From the outside, my life looks pretty normal.

But my story didn’t start that way.

From Survival to Redemption

For years, my story was defined by what happened to me.

But over time, God began to show me something different:

👉 My story wasn’t just about trauma
👉 It was about redemption

Through seasons of healing, wrestling with forgiveness, and rebuilding my identity, I learned that:

What was meant for harm… God can redeem for good.

That doesn’t mean the journey was easy.

There were questions.
There were wounds.
There were moments where faith felt hard.

But through it all, God remained faithful.

A Story That Changed Everything

At the age of seven, I was kidnapped by my father and taken out of the United States to Jordan.

What followed was a journey no child should have to walk—one marked by fear, uncertainty, and the unknown.

But my story didn’t end there.

My mother made the courageous decision to fight for me. She assembled a team of ex-military experts, and together they carried out a daring rescue mission—bringing me safely home across a secured border into Israel.

My story became headline news, featured in:

  • The Washington Post

  • The New York Times

  • People Magazine

  • Reader’s Digest

And was later portrayed in the NBC film:
Desperate Rescue: The Cathy Mahone Story

Why I Share My Story

Today, I share my story through:

🎙 The Redeemed Podcast
🎤 Speaking at churches, conferences, and events
📖 My upcoming book

Because I know I’m not the only one who has walked through something hard.

If you’ve ever felt:

  • Stuck in your past

  • Weighed down by unforgiveness

  • Unsure of who you are after what you’ve been through

I want you to know this:

You are not alone.
And your story is not over.

Faith, Family, and Everyday Life

While my story includes some extraordinary moments, my life today is rooted in the everyday.

I’m a wife.
A mom.
A woman pursuing Jesus in the middle of real life.

I still rely deeply on my community—my friends, my Bible study, and the people who walk alongside me in faith.

Because healing doesn’t happen in isolation.

It happens in community, in truth, and in surrender to God.
